22 Oak Street is a 1.1 km walk south from the Ottawa Pimisi or Bayview O-Train LRT stations.
22 Oak Street is a long 6.5 km walk west from the Ottawa inter-city Train Station (VIA Rail) on Tremblay Rd. From the VIA station, most people take the O-Train LRT to Pimisi Station and walk the 1 km from there – about 30 minutes total.
Google says it takes 45 minutes to walk downtown to Arts Court (2 Daly Avenue) from 22 Oak Street. OCTranspo Public Transit takes 18-25 minutes.

The nearest three O-Train LRT stops are at Corso Italia (Line 2: north-south line) on Gladstone a block west of Preston (about 600 metres from 22 Oak), Pimisi (Line 1: east-west line) on Booth just north Albert, and Bayview (Both Line 1 and Line 2) on Albert at the north end of the north-south O-Train LRT Line 2. Either Line 1 train station stop is a 1.1km (10 minute) walk from 22 Oak Street.
Driving: In a car, driving to Ottawa eastbound (coming from Perth/Toronto/Sudbury) on Highway 417, the nearest exit from 417 is “Rochester” [121B]. Driving to Ottawa westbound (coming from Montreal/Cornwall), use the 417 exit at “Bronson” [121A].
Parking: There is limited free on-street car parking on the north side of Oak Street. On weekdays, the time is limited to one hour from 07h00 to 17h30 (7am to 5:30pm). Weekends and nights are unlimited and free. There is pay-and-display car parking on Preston St. We can sometimes arrange parking with our neighbours.

Our neighbourhood is near Little Italy (Preston Street) and Chinatown (Somerset Street West). Preston Street south of Oak Street is lined with Italian restaurants; Somerset West east of Preston Street is lined with Asian restaurants.
The area is lacking North American grocery stores. The nearest Independent Grocer is 12 blocks away at 296 Bank Street (at Somerset). Luciano’s Italian Foods is two blocks north at 114 Preston Street. The Kowloon Market has fresh vegetables (mostly Asian) six blocks east at 712 Somerset West.
There is a convenience store Preston Food Market three blocks north at 71 Preston Street. We have an East Indian Food store (samosas!) Super Sweet Mart at 237 Rochester, four blocks south of Somerset.
Bank Scotiabank is 12 blocks south at 425 Preston. Bank CIBC (includes a Simplii Financial ATM) is 14 blocks south at 829 Carling Avenue (at Preston).
Preston Hardware (a medium-size independent hardware store) is four blocks south at 248 Preston Street.
